چکیده

1. The distribution of DPN and DPNH pyrophosphatases and DPNase in centrifugally prepared fractions of organs of several species of animals is reported. 2. A DPNH pyrophosphatase was found in the soluble fraction of pigeon and of rabbit liver. This enzyme did not split DPN but accounted for over 50 per cent of the DPNH pyrophosphatase activity of the whole homogenates. 3. All the organs tested, including the pigeon liver and rabbit liver, contained a microsomal pyrophosphatase that attacked both DPNH and DPN. This microsomal enzyme split DPNH faster than DPN in all cases. 4. DPN pyrophosphatase and DPNase activity were generally concentrated in the microsomal fraction of liver, of kidney, and of brain. 5. The DPNase of hamster liver was virtually inactive at pH 7.5 but was optimally active at pH 5.5. Considerable difference was found with respect to pH on the activity of DPNase from organs of different animals. 6. The inhibition of mitochondrial and microsomal DPNH oxidation by nicotinamide was noted during the course of these experiments. 7. The significance of some of the distribution patterns is discussed.

Pyridine Nucleotide Transhydrogenase VIII. PROPERTIES OF THE TRANSHYDROGENASE REACTIONS OF AN ENZYME COMPLEX ISOLATED FROM BEEF HEART MITOCHONDRIA*

Extensive studies in this and other laboratories have demonstrated the occurrence of pyridine nucleotide transhydrogenase activity in a variety of animal mitochondria (l-6), bacterial extracts (7), mitochondrial particles (8-IO), and plant tissues (11). With the introduction of the pyridine nucleotide analogues (5) the study of the true transhydrogenase reaction was greatly facilitated. This re...

Histopathological changes in various tissues of striped catfish, Pangasianodon hypophthalmus, fed on dietary nucleotides and exposed to water-borne silver nanoparticles or silver nitrate

The objective of this paper focused on the ffects of dietary nucleotides (NT) on histopathological alternations of striped catfish Pangasianodon hypophthalmus, after exposure to water-borne silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and silver nitrate (AgNO3). Fish were fed with a diet containing nucleotide (0.75%) or control diet for 10 weeks and then divided into 3 experiments including control, 20 µ...

[Cytochemical localization and properties of selected nucleolytic enzymes].

In the article there are shortly outlined studies on cytochemical localization of selected nucleolytic enzymes carried out between 1957-1986 by David Shugar and his coworkers. The histochemical localization of several nucleolytic enzymes in animal and plant tissues was determined by synthesis of specific substrates, alpha-naphthyl esters of 5'- and 3'-nucleotides and their derivatives. In rat t...

Substrate specificity of mammalian pyridine nucleotide transglycosidases.

Spectrophotometrical analysis of pyridine nucleotide transglycosidase in mammalian tissues indicated that the enzyme activity was observed to be distributed ubiquitously among the mammalian tissues analyzed, although the velocity ratio of transglycosidation/hydrolysis (vT/vH) and the partitioning of nicotinic acid against water differed with the pyridine nucleotide substrate and the mammalian s...
